I went to a place in Oklahoma City last night called Friends and listened to Speed West Jr. Great musican and an nice fellow to boot. Guess he is a chip off the old block. He plays there five nights a week but Tuesday night is country night. They have a fantasic band. The club is just north of the turnpike off Hefner Pky in a real nice neighborhood and the people are friendly.

Hi Dave,

Yes, Speedy Jr. or Gary West is a great guitarist. He plays steel really well. I haven't seen him in years but became acquainted with him through his dad. He had an L.P. out years ago and I wish I had a copy of that.

Speedy West Sr. his dad was a dear friend and I really miss him!

GOD bless!

from time to time i remind myself of back in the 80's, i think, when gary was travelin' with a really good "show band", the name which slip's me completely.an upscale "holiday inn type" act that did really good pop stuff one set and super really good country the next set.
gary would come across the stage, late, with a trench coat and dapper-dan hat and the girl singer would say....hey buddy, why don't you take your hat and jacket off?
he was.........
hillarious.....does he still do his comedy act?
i will never forget. great musician all around.
.........country
