I don't think they're entirely vaporware. I saw 3 of them, up and running at the Peterson booth in St. Louis. However, they weren't for sale. Hmmmmm....

Dickie W-The Stoborack tuners that were on display at Scotty's show were exactly that-display-John Norris has assured me that orders for Stoboracks will be filled very soon-In order to sufficiently test these units before sending them out to customers-John borrowed my entire steel guitar rack system that was custom engineered for me by Mike Cass-They have been using it at the Peterson factory for several months now in effort to evaluate how the unit will work with other rack gear-My system has a Roland line mixer which maintains good gain structure without "daisy chaining" effects units together-Peterson techs realize that not all folks using rack systems have this same approach to gain structure and having customers "daisy chain" the tuners with other rack gear is a likely scenario-Therfore all effort is being made to deliver a tested product that will work without being problematic for those who may structure the connections of their rack gear differently in conjunction with the Stroborack-Peterson builds quality products-I am fortunate to be their local steel guitar consultant and to have been involved with testing of their tuners marketed for steel players with the Jeff Newman settings since they were first implemented into the V-SAM and VS-II-It was no easy feat to engineer the scrolling virtual strobe display to fit within the width of a single space rack unit-please be patient-I am confident that you will get a thoughtfully engineered and tested product delivered very soon-PW

Dickie W-My rack consists of
Carlo of Nashville 12 space rack with front and rear mounting rails
Evans D2PR Dual pre-amp
Yamaha Gep-50 guitar fx processor
ADA D-640 digital delay
Roland M-120 line mixer
Rane SM-26 splitter mixer
Carver PM-900 power amp
Raxxess 2 space drawer
2 Rapco 6 input power strips
Peterson Stroborack tuner (test unit)
The Evans D2PR is connected so that it has a "jumper cord" on rear panel which allows switching from top to bottom preamp-one is set EQ'ed for standard steel and the other is for steel with the Match-Bro Dobro simulator-The Yamaha Gep-50 is set to program number 49 which is stereo pitch shift chorus-the fine settings are tweeked from default +8 and -8 to Jay Dee Maness setting of +6 -8 The ADA is set for delay/echo and is not a stereo unit and it would be better if it were-so I only get the delay from one side-The Roland mixer is the one that all effects and the tuner are sent to instead of being daisy chained and has a hard pan control for master volume and an input for using headphones-The Rane splitter mixer separates the signal into stereo-I did have an Alesis Micoverb unit but it crapped out so I am planning to buy probably a Lexicon to replace it for reverb-The Stoborack will probably be replacing the Korg tuner (gone) which was rendered useless for me when the Petersons came out with the onboard Newman settings-The Carver PM900 power amp gives 450W per channel for plenty of clean power-I run the system through two old Cush Case open back extention speakers loaded with 15" Peavey (1501) Black Widows with the polarity reversed on the left (delay) side-The power strips (rear mounted) are for all the power cord plug ins for all the rack's units which are left "on" all the time and are connected to a master Hubble plug on the back panel for the main power connection-also I have a custom built dual fan panel (modified from an old police radio console panel) mounted on the back rails-the back panel also has XLR jacks if I want to go to a mixing board and a input for the footswitch of the delay unit-The rack drawer conveniently holds my speaker connection cords, delay unit footswitch, user manuals for each of the rack units, and whatever else I need to store there-that's about all of it! Very Happy
