I have a single 12 and am using a humbucking pickup. A couple of years ago I had the same setup and my sound started to get really brite and harsh. I switched pickups at that time (with the same brand name) and everything went back to normal. Nice mellow sound. I'm now experiencing the same problem again. Wondering if the pickups are going bad or might there be another reason for this. Appreciate any help you can give me. Sincerely Nigel |

Seems likely, but coincidental that it would occur again. If it's a same brand and era pickup, maybe it's a common flaw in the construction?
I had a 12 string pickup go bad shortly after buying a guitar (new in 1976). But, mine had a loose winding and created a sensitive low mid feedback with certain notes. _________________ 1976 Birdseye U-12 MSA with Telonics 427 pickup, 1975 Birdseye U-12 MSA with Telonics X-12 pickup, Revelation preamp, Carbon Copy Delay and Hall Of Fame Reverb, Crown XLS 1002, 2- 15" Eminence Wheelhouse speakers, ShoBud Pedal, Effects Pedals. 1949 Epiphone D-8. |

Thanks Dennis for your reply. I thought I might be the only person to experience a pickup problem. I've ordered another pickup and I'll let you know how it works out. Nigel |
