Mike,

I have been using the Edirol R-1 by Roland with really great sucess. I have recorded Slim Roberts several times with this recorder and his band was amazed at the quality. They have said the recordings are better than those they get straight through the board.

It has very high quality built in mics with auto level and quite a few nice effects. Records digital WAV files or MP3's which are very easy to upload to your PC using USB.

I initialy bought it to use as a "song idea" notepad but found it to be capable for much more. A little pricey but worth it.

Click here for a sample recording.

My two cents anyway!!

Whit
