I haven't heard this project but Mike Brenner is a good dobro and lap steel player. I think he comes from a rock background, and he knows bluegrass and traditional country styles, too. Nice guy and a good all around musician. |

Cool--thanks for posting that.
Interesting to see/hear steel guitar in atypical settings. I don't listen to much rap, but when I do hear it I like when it's done to real instruments. Also refreshing to hear the artists' emphasis on positivity in their music.

Mike "Slo Mo" Brenner is a smokin' lap steel player that is very impressive in a rootsy groove somewhere between bluegrass and blues. Unfortunately he is sort of a Philly secret. His experimental stuff is always interesting, and it is not surprising to see him getting into some hip hop with his own twist. |

I've been doing hip-hop and R&B sessions for about a year, and the folks I've worked with love the lap steel. It's a lot of fun, and they give me free reign to experiment. |

Good stuff! I grew up in Philly in the 60s & 70s and this music definitely reminds me of that lineage of classic, melodic, orchestrated Philly soul and R&B. Great to know the steel is making inroads in this kind of music. |
