I will be performing with my band, 3 Wheel Drive at the annual Marty Robbins Tribute in Glendale, AZ on September 22nd at the Glendale City Amphitheater, 59th Avenue and Glendale. Singers come from all over the country to perform all Marty Robbins songs...it will last for 2 to 2 1/2 hours....starting at 7:00pm. Our band will be doing the backup chores for all vocalists as well as doing our own. Special guest on lead guitar JOHNNY DAVIS!! This will be a great show. Come on out and enjoy. Free admission, but they do pass the hat for donations.

Hi Billy,

Well, wish I could be out there! Marty Robbins is one of my favorite all time singers.

Personally, I feel that Marty should be rated with the top 5 Country singers of all time.

A great showman/entertainer, and the thing about Marty was, he could sing all styles: Cowboy, Hawaiian, Country Ballads, Rockabilly, Crooner type songs and Gospel.

I have alot of his LPs, tapes and now they are on CDs. He loved steel guitar and recorded with many great steelers. He actually played some steel but I don't know how well. He was also a great song writer. It doesn't seem like he's been gone so long.

Billy have a ball and pick one for Marty!

Would love to be there, since Marty is due any tribute given him. I'm booked for a birthday party that day and can't make it. You'll just have to put up with Denny's bass playing again(Haha). Tell all hi for me and I'll be there in spirit.
Take care,

Here is some side notes about Marty and Jerry Bryd.

If viewers here have not read the late Steel Guitar Hall of Famer Jerry Byrd's book titled "It Was A Trip On The Wings of Music," I suggest you get a copy to read. It is well worth hte cost of the book and will be a collector's item.

In his book, Jerry shares alot of information on several of the past greats in the music industry. One such person was Marty Robbins. I was re-reading the book last night and came across the info he had shared on Marty Robbins. They were friends and worked together in the big recording studios in Nashville, TN. Jerry shares how Marty played some on the steel guitar for him.

Again, Jerry's book is well worth the cost and I orderd mine from Amazon.com. I think the cost was less than $20; you will be glad you purchased the book.

GOD bless!
