| please help i have an e9 3 pedal 4 levers that i want to convert to c6. i'm trying to figure out which would be the best setup. would appreciate any input. thank you |

My suggestions for a basic C6 setup on that guitar would be:
-- have the three existing pedals do what pedals 5, 6, and 7 do on a D-10.
-- replicate pedals 4 & 8 with two of the levers.
-- raise the high C on one of them, and
-- have a knee lever left over to experiment with.

| Thank You Emmett that may be the way .I will have to go to the hardware store this week end and pick up a few rods to accommodate this new set up. On My RKR I have a 1/2 stop A to B flat on the 4th string and also A to B on the 4th and 8th string. RKL on the 3rd string C to B. I figured to keep my B's on that right knee. LKL on the 7th string C to C sharp, on the 9th string F to E and the 10th string C to A keeping pedals 1,2 and 3 as if they were 5,6,7. that leaves me the LKR. Now my question is: would you use that high C sharp on the 3rd string there or would you do something different with it? Thank You |

A.J., I both raise (RKL) and lower (RKR) my high C.
That's the only knee lever action I have happening on my C6 neck right now...of course that's always subject to change.

One thing to keep in mind: it's not easy to do the two-footed thing on a normal S-10 because the pedals are so far to the left. That's why I put the P7 and P8 changes on different knees. You can still use them together, or you can use either/both with the other pedals for the typical two-footed moves.

A.J.-I must say that Bobby Lee's setup looks very good. I like it. It has all you need.Congrats on wanting to get into C6...
The only thing with me is I would tune it to E6 2 whole tones higher to be releative to E9 and not so muddy down there...E6 is what I have on my Sho-Bud Pro 1 with 6 pedals and 5 knee levers.....al.

Hi all, I have a old steel that has just 3 pedals and 3 knees. LKL, LKR, and RKR. I have played dobro for thirty years+ and I am very use to having my first string the 5th of the triad. I currently have the pedal steel set up with 8 stings to a C6th. I have bought a
8-string lap steel and now want to change the pedals and knees to the set up Bobby Lee suggests on this post, but I have one less knee and would like to tune the 1st string to a G. Am I traveling down the wrong path??? What change should I make for just 3 knees??? |
