Here's my very own easy to play arrangement of the popular old jazz standard Stompin' at the Savoy. This tab is for the E9 neck. You'll need three fingerpicks and thumbpick to get the four note jazz block chord voicings. There are only two lever moves used in this tab:
LKL- raises 4th and 8th strings E-F
LKR- lowers 4th and eighth strings E-Eb
Pedals are standard:
A pedal raises B-C#
B pedal raises G#-A
C pedal raises E-F# and B-C#

Great song. Great tab.
I really like the standard note notation.
It helps me with the phrasing.
What did you use to create it?

| Thanks Joe, I used the old Microsoft Paint program. I draw everything from the staves to the stems. It's basically just alot of cutting and pasting. I'm pretty fast at it but I wouldn't necessarily recommend this method to anyone as it can be rather time consuming. |

Mike,
I appreciate your posting the arrangement of Stomping At The Savoy. The tab is easy to read, and a real find for this new pedal steel guitarist(one year). Some of the string grips used in the tune have led to my finding several more songs on the E9 neck. Having done a fair amount of the cut and paste routine, I salute you for your expertise with the MS Paint program.

| My pleasure Myrna, and glad you liked my tab. As you noticed, there are some cool four note voicings in this tab that lots of people don't use or aren't even aware exist on the E9 neck. In fact there are even more jazz four note voicings on the E9 neck than the ones used in this tune. If you start experimenting with four note voicings you may run across some new ones. At some point I hope to get around to posting my system for four note voicings on the E9 neck. |
