I always enjoy watching a players face when they screw up, just to see how they react.
Which got me wondering what the rest of you do when that occurs to you on stage.

An audience will forget the mistake in a second unless you draw attention to it with a negative reaction, but is a humorous expression/comment better than a poker face to pass the moment?

My wife says that when I'm playing, I always look like I have hemorriods and am sitting on 50 grit sandpaper so I guess I look the same even when I make a boo boo, which is quite often I am told.....alan Sad

None whatsoever. Making a face draws attention to you and points out to the audience that YOU made a mistake. I've learned to completely ignore any mistakes and just keep on truckin'. Don't forget to smile. Winking

Jeremy, may cockroaches infest your hard drive... Razz

When I blow it, I play it again; that way they think it's a lick. Laughing

I usually use my 'mean look' & shoot it over to the guitar player & try to act like he made the mistake, I know its not right, but some things just have to be done like this!! We all know that steel player on the forum hardly ever make mistakes!!

I ALWAYS look at the bass player, who will always look confused, thereby instantly becoming the source of the problem. It always works.

Unless I'm the bass player. Then The drummer is the victim...

I usually have a surprised/amazed look on my face - that is, whenever I play something that actually comes out good! Whoa! Otherwise, it's most likely an expression of utter confusion. Confused

on edit: OOPS!...Didn't pay close enough attention to the original question...When I blow a part (which is not too unusual for me) I most likely have an expression of "Oh well, Just another day at the steel guitar office!" Most of the time I just sorta laugh aloud at myself, depending on how hideous the part sounded.

Or an
Open mouthed YOW! Is THIS exciting or what?

Both usually accompanied by a mental eye roll.
