Does anyone know who the steel players were on the WLS Barn Dance in Chicago? |

Funny you should ask, I just talked to a friend of mine who said he has some of those shows from the 60's on video. He said the steel player on those is Tiny Murphy. |

Before Tiny came along, Jimmy Gross was the regular steelman (mid '50s), and before him, way back in the '40s, it was Howard("Doc")Hopkins. |

Tiny passed on a few years back-He was a fine gentleman-I saw him at Scotty's show for the last time before he died-He knew it was going to be his last-He was wearing a baseball cap with signatures of many famous steel players on it-He asked me to sign his cap-I asked him why he would want my name on it as I was a "nobody" compared to the others-He just said "Because I like you Paul" Rest In Peace Tiny |
