Topic: G# to E lower on an Emmons LG? |

I'd like to try out the "radical" 6th string G# to E Franklin change on my Legrande II's LKV. Has anyone tried installing this pull on a Legrande guitar and what were the results? I now lower the G# to G. The lever's travel is quite short to the stop, and it seems it would even if I'd remove the stop screw.
Would it be possible to adjust this change without having to change any parts? Also, if you have succeeded, what bellcrank hole and changer finger did you put it on?

I think you're in for a problem. It's hard enough to get a G# to F# drop on that string. Usually you have to use a plain string (not a wound) to get it.
Is that a change that Paul Franklin uses? If so, he must be able to get it on a Franklin guitar.

You may need a gear-down system. Or else a very long bellcrank.
Maybe the Carter site explains the gear-down system. |

FWIW... For those Sierra pickers who might want to try it, I have no problem lowering G#>E on the 6th string of my Sierra Session S12U (on RKL).
'Heard it first on a Franklin steel at a convention a few years back.

I believe that Paul's change only drops the G# to F# along with the 5th & 10th strings B to A.
In all my years I have never seen a G# to E change.
The standard Franklin change is as I note above. I have it on my Emmons LeGrande and my Carter.

According to the above posting, Paul Franklin gets the G# to B change on a left vertical knee lever.
Someone also posted that he could get the change on an Emmons LeGrande. |

I tried now to remove the stop for the LKV and managed to get the 6th string to lower and return two whole steps perfectly in tune when the lever hits the underside of the guitar's body instead of the sto. The pull is easy and the lever travel is comfortable. Would you say this is an "ok" of doing this?  |

| Just a thought. The lever doesn't hit the body of the guitar, but the C-pedal's cross shaft. May the cross shaft be damaged by the impact of the knee lever? |
