I love to tinker with his style on a Steel

To play Chet's style on a Steel Guitar takes
an entirely different technique and I still
have a long way to go but it is a joy to
work at it.

Low to High:..E...B...E...F#...G#...B...C#...E
That is an "E Nine Six" chord. I change string
six to D for a full thirteenth for certain
other songs.

| Bobby Garrett was a master of the Chet Atkins-Merle Travis style of playing. Remember Rose City Chimes? Bubby Emmons and Bobbe Seymour are also masters of this style of playing. I got together with Bobby Garrett in a motel either in Dallas or Houston and I tabbed out Rose City Chimes. I put it in both tab and musical notes. The Chet Atkins style I had to write in the bass clef. I put a couple of samples out to a couple of guys and all I wanted for it was a report if it was too difficult to market. Neither one responded so I put the arrangement in storage and now I can't find it. Scotty |

Hi George nice to hear from you and thank you
for chimin' in here.
This past July Bernice and I took some time and
drove up through the Cape Breton Highlands here in
Nova Scotia and then on to my old home town Sydney Mines.
I met up there with Eugene Ramsey who let me play his
new Excel D8 Jerry Byrd model. It is an outstanding
instrument in every way and great for Atkins/Travis style. The guitar is manufactured in Japan by Mitsuo Fujii. This is the Jerry Byrd non pedal model.
I asked Eugene all about it and who
he bought it from. He told me but it slips my mind
right now.
