It seems long for that, but it makes the most sense. I was wondering if it might attach to the input jack, given the length. But it may very well be a ground jumper from volume to tone.

Thanks for the heads up on this. I love those strings on my acoustic guitars, but it may be that they are not the best option for Weissenborn. Do coated strings help in this regard?

I was able to file the nut slot down just a little and it fixed the issue. It really wasn't very hard to do. I just mimicked the string angle to the extent possible.
