I would just put "Sorry" on the front facing whoever might be unfortunate enough to be there when I am on the thing.

Dbl-click the balloon.

The XP Security Center? should start.
In there click change the way security center alerts me
and uncheck all three check boxes.

Boot a windows xp cd (It don't what version xp vista or 7 is on the drive). After it loads it setup files you will have a chance to select R for Repair Console.

1/4" guitar jacks can even be a 5/8" (I think) outside diameter.

In other words they are indeed different try a few types maybe even a nut from a cheap radio shack jack.
