I once thought of Miles Davis album "Kinda Blue" as dinner music but lately I've sorta been digging it.
And I even feel the need cover it some.

Just to point out that GBDGBD = a Bm#5 chord . . .

LOL! That stuff drives me nuts! "Who's on 1st?"

Here's a dobro tune. Tuned to G minor. Johnny Bellar.

I was figuring out this tune https://youtu.be/5HQw8rjFR44?si=ucKqJr00svVK17Zu last night. Supposedly from 1938. Today I saw a photo of him with a lap steel, again from 1938. The lap steel appeared to ...

Are there any other possibilities with C6 strings that won’t break the strings? I try to vary a little to no avail. I guess we have to get separate strings for each tuning? Confusing.

Thanks

I have lots of reasons for the G6.
I come from Jerry Douglas. So the 6 string DBGDBG was my tuning for many years.
With the G6 8 string lap, all it does is put an E in the middle of the 2 triads a ...

Yes, G6 is great.
I use GDEGBD.
On 8 strings its GBDEGBDE.
Works for me.

I don't hear about that many people using 6th tunings with the 6th on top. I have this inversion on my pedal steel and ...

I'll go even farther with this and claim that the G6 is pretty much a miracle. I'm not very intelligent.I was told I had a learning disability in grade school.

Perhaps because one can tune as low as D2 on string 6 and as high as G4 on string 1 there are a myriad of playable tuning possibilities. Moving beyond six strings opens up still more possibilities.

I have 30 years of experience in fab work for what that's worth.

Probably no good way to cut that.

If I was forced (or hired) to work on that, I'd probably drill a hole or holes in it that would ...

It reminds me of an Eharp but played by someone who really has it figured out.

Noob question. If you go from a 6-string to an 8-string, do you use the same width slide, just not quite cover all the strings, and mute the strings not covered?

Reason I ask is I just started pla ...
