A lot of those mixers (like the one pictured) do not have high-impedance (instrument pickup) inputs. Guitars should have some sort of buffer before the mixer input. | |

The version on Youtube you linked to is in stereo, and the guitars are panned hard left/right. That should make it easier to pick them apart with the balance control. |
