I found a cosmetically challenged '86 OMI Dobro for around the same price as a new import.

It is not as deep as the Gold Tone, but I love the authentic tone.

Fender actually bought Guild in 1995, but there are many Guild devotees that swear that quality actually improved at the Westerly, RI facility after the acquisition.
