That G you used should have worked, it was probably binding on the bridge or nut which can happen on those skinny strings. What scale length are you using?

that's gorgeous! Love to have one of those old Dobro guitars. Love my faux Beard(Gold Tone w/ all Beard inners) but the tone of those old Dobros is like none other.

That's a beauty! Wish I could afford it. I met Tut Taylor once when I was about 10 years old. Was a character. Only dobro picker I've ever heard of that used a flat pick.
