Yeah the book is a whopping 770 page hardback full of color photos so it definitely flatlines the postal scale. Just tell her it's a bargain by the pound!

My book has a few pages on Regal, but if you want a lot of detail, I recommend a book called "Regal Musical Instruments 1895-1955" by Bob Carlin. It has over 300 pages of info on the histor ...

I have been posting videos of rare instruments featured in my recent book, and I thought someone might want to check out this circa 1930 Regal Hawyofone Guitar. Cool looking, lightly built, all mahog ...

1) A host of classic fretted instruments plus some surprising oddities. The guitar, mandolin and banjo families come alive in the gorgeous color pictures, not to mention the studies on wood structure ...

Artificial sunshine I suppose. I didn't want to leave it by the window for twenty years! As a precaution, I kept a fan running to cool the top. I also cut a hole the shape of the tailpiece in a pie ...

It depends on your tuning. I use a set from .056 to .015 on my Weissenborn tuned to D. If I go up to E, I use .053 to .012. Some folks use even higher tension strings, but I am paranoid about damagi ...

I had not thought about that angle. The tailpiece might allow heavier strings. At any rate, I tend to be a little conservative on string gauges on the vintage stuff. I use a set from .056 to .015 on ...

I thought this might be of interest to some. When I bought my vintage Weissenborn teardrop it had a trapeze tailpiece installed despite the presence of an original pin bridge. The removal of the tai ...

I don't know how to attach an audio file to a post, but if you want to hear what the Martin 028K sounds like, there is a sound clip called "Isaiah 38:20" on my website.

The volume is good, rich and full sounding with good balance as well. It has very light scalloped x-bracing and is at least as loud as your typical Weissenborn or Knutsen. The 0-28K and 0-18K models ...

Yeah I see what you mean. I guess it would be cool to have a kid in the band, and there were probably a lot of family groups performing...or who knows, maybe she was just a killer young player! Anyway ...

I have a Martin 0-28K with the name Gladys Hawaiians painted on the side. The case is painted as well. Does anyone know anything about this band (probably from the early 1930s)?
