Common practice is to attack the strings with the volume pedal between 1/3 and 1/2 volume only. Try this and report back - I’m guessing the distortion won’t be present set this way.

Perhaps more young female guitarists will see it and realize that you don't have to be a monster steeler like Megan Lovell or Sarah Jory to make it to the big concert stages on steel. You just need t ...

The negative intersection of the ‘why there’s no new steel players’ and ‘the music these new steel players play sucks’ is a hilarious place to set up shop

I wonder if he ever used a more complete pedal setup, or if he moved to only having an A and B pedal to simplify his focus more on his hands.I’m pretty sure I’ve seen him with a couple different S ...

Very cool! I’m so curious about the huge red button taped on the steel!? Also, I had no idea Lanois played country pedal steel at one point. You’d never know it to hear him.

Is Aubrey’s steel a custom Sho-Bud from the factory, or aftermarket? Or is it a Bud in logo only? At any rate, it sounds just incredible! His touch and tone is unreal.

On 9 and 10 it is extremely likely that you are putting more bar pressure on 10 than 9, and as you approach the 12th the slightest difference will pull ...
