For reference, one sold recently on Reverb.com for $499 + Shiping. Tuners weren't original, but otherwise seemed solid with some wear.

For another example, I bought one recently for $470, total, w ...

Soulful voice! Nice.

Great example of economy picking in the guitar break.

Really nice looking guitar. Congrats.

I can't specifically help with age, but try reading codes on the pots. Google those numbers for potential age.

Here are some things to try short of ditching the steel or replacing the pickup.

On the 250K vs 500K question, I tend to go with 500K, figuring I can always turn the tone pot down.

Since a volume pedal pot will get a lot of use relative to the volume pot on the guitar, when I r ...

Until your new socket arrives, try wrapping the leg threads with teflon plumber's tape. That should make it fit tight.

Since you want the widest range of tone, I’d say use a 500K tone pot and a 47 nF capacitor. Likewise, 500K for the volume. If you want to squeeze out a little more highs, use a no load pot fo ...
