If you want to stay with a Lexicon unit I believe the MX 300 is the least expensive unit that doesn't use a wall wart. They run about $240-$300.

Woodwind Bore oil works great. I've used it for 30+ years with excellent results. It's available at most music stores.

I think I would try to wipe away the oily residue with a dry paper towel or clean rag before considering solvents. No use replacing one bad contaminate with another.

Why can't you use studio phones for just listening to your stereo? I was told that i need "Hi Fi" phones? that stinks..i guess it has to do with the "Flat" eq response?
