The pink stuff was some sort of foam pad that was placed underneath the pickups. Probably to add resistance to the screws holding the pickups in place and perhaps to provide some damping as well. Ha ...

Agree that would be a better situation for the seller and a buyer who wants to rebuild to original spec. However, if someone buys and wants to rebuild with modern guts I'm in for the old stuff.
