Chris Combs, best known from 'Jacob Fred Jazz Odyssey,' plays a 6 string lap steel in standard tuning. Check out his solo 2017 release, 'Combsy' - His sound is, dare I say it, a bit Frisellian.

Yes, AJ uses D7 tuning, as he put it: "Old school Sacred Steel E7, tuned down 1 step..."

I have the model B from that catalog page, model # 6154, made in 1949 Smile
It's currently in the shop, got new wiring, replaced some tuning pegs, etc. I'll post a picture once I get it back.
