I always paid particular attention to Jon's postings. I learned a lot from him. He was a great asset to the forum and will be missed.

The wound strings have stainless or nickel winding. The plain strings are the same. There is no "best." It's subjective, personal preference. Try a set of each.

The push-pull sound to me is a combination of growl in the lows, more pronounced mids than all pulls, and silky highs. Tone, as with any steel, is affected by several factors, pickups, amp settings, ...

Any picks can be noisy to some degree. It's a matter of refining touch and overall technique. That comes with practice and experience.

I am fortunate to be able to see Ricky play occasionally. His skills are undeniable. His personality and the joy he exhibits are icing on the cake.

Possibly my favorite band of that time period. I still have their "A Dozen Roses" album on my phone.

I saw the show in Granbury, Texas, earlier this year. It is outstanding! Arlington Music Hall is a great venue. I might have to go again.
