I change strings every two to three months. We gig every friday night for 3 hours and I never break a string if I follow this schedule.

Mine is 0140 . Its over 20 years old and never had a problem. I have had to change out a few of the tuners but other than that its been a jewel.

...then why does it tune perfectly at the 12th fret when tuned straight 440 at the open fret ?

But Greg, you're the one that said everything but the "E" note is out at the 12th fret? ...

I haved tuned my steel to the E9 tuning using the Peterson Strobostomp. Perfect open tuning and sound. All string are right on the mark.

But when I go up past the 12 fret I notice some degredat ...

I cannot find how to program a new temperment in the peterson strobostomp HD anywhere. Has anyone here tried this ? And can you name the new temperment or do you have to overwrite an existing one?

Now my 3rds sounds off when A&B are pressed when I play with no backing tracks ... But with backing tracks Im right on .... What gives ???
