I've got feelers out for a jam in Burbank in late Aug early Sept, on a Saturday -- stay tuned, (literally)

I personally wouldn't run a tube over it's power rating, it won't kill it but it will shorten the life -- and I don't you'll notice much different sound going to 91 from 120%

Also, I would think the amp would sound completely different with a 8 ohm load vs. 4.

When you plug a guitar into an amp, the pickup is "loaded" by the input circuit of the amp, and it lives in an "operating point" (OP) that is determined by the amp input resistance ...

Sounds like the tank is not getting signal from the amp. One thing you can do is open it up and wiggle the connectors and see if that makes a difference.
