The steel has five levers, the RKL lowers the two E strings to Eb, I mean, D#! The RKR raises the 1st string ...

I've acquired a D10 which seems to be in a standard Emmons setup except for the LKR, which lowers strings 2 (a whole step) and 9 (a half step) to Db. The LKR doesn't affect the E strings, 4 & 8.

I just looked in iReal Pro, and it has a backing track for Secret Love (in Eb, though you can transpose it anywhere you like)...

I can't help with a backing track, but somebody told me that Secret Love is in Eb, so that's where I've learned it. Really a great tune, have you heard Freddy Fender's version?

I just replaced the most out of tune of my strings (an .034) with a GHS .036 I found in my box o' strings. It plays in tune just fine, so I'm thinking the strings themselves are the problem.

OK, I've switched to another lap steel and find I'm having the same problem, to a slightly lesser degree. They're both tuned A6 - I tune the two E strings (first and fifth) to be a perfect octave apar ...
