If Universal tuning is a compromise why would one want to use it over a D-10? Is it just the weight?

Just a follow up on the search for "tone".

(1) I bought a Goodrich L10K volume pedal for starters... that eliminates the whole impedence matching issue with the Earnie Ball pedal.

As you can see by the poll as of 09-Apr-08, the Hilton is slightly preferred, by a narrow margin. This could screw up my voting with all the contention... oh, that's another debate!

Anyway, for now ...

My tone seems to go from crappy to crappier and back again. Sad

I prefer a pot pedal. I like the way the tone changes with the volume. You don't get that sound with an active pedal.
