Mark, I bought it from the original owner, who ordered it with the pickup from Beard in 2003.

I have a Beard 8-string with a Fishman Nashville pickup. installed by Beard. Contact them!

It might be hard to fit a different changer into a ZB. But where there's a will there's a way!
You might consider keeping the ZB changer and replace all the pulling mechanics.

They can be timed by adjusting the rod length, which is done by adjusting the turnbuckles that connect the left-threaded rod, to the right threaded spoke that connects to the changer... 6-40 threads ...

I have a set of ZB Custom legs, which have the 3/4" threads. They did fit my old Fender Deluxe.

Are they Grovers?
Are all the keys hard to turn? If not, take off a bad one and test it. Maybe there is dirt or something in the keyhead, or the roller nut is stuck.

I have a "normal" guitar (round-neck) that I keep tuned to E.
I use D'Addario EJ24 "True Medium" strings, which have a lighter gauge for strings 3,4,5 - the ones that get tuned up ...

I have one of these an like it a lot on my National.
Easy to put on & take off. And pretty cheap.
Put it on with the strap coming up between strings 3 & 4.
