I'm pretty sure this Hawaiian song is called Halona.
Gabby Pahinui and the Sons Of Hawaii recorded this song in a medley together with the song Waialae.

Oops, yes, you're right.
Doing the swells with the VOLUME POT KNOB, but make sure too turn the tone control up. You want it on the bright side so the FX's will be more prominent.

I did that on my recording I just did about a few weeks back. I just brushed the top strings 1 to 4 with my pinky, then go to the 1st string to hit the chimes.
