Skip I had the same experience with my Webb. Use a flat head screwdriver and be gentle, the grill will pop off. The velcro and tight fit make it seem as though you're forcing it.

I believe Lloyd Green directed the bands when he played with Charlie Pride and Johnny Paycheck and probably many others.
