I had a pedal steel for a year or so in the 70s, enjoyed it, but wound up trading it to an acquaintance who would use it more than I did. I'm thinking about getting back into it,saw this on eB ...

Thanks for all the responses. I think I'll try the Epiphone.If I don't like it, I can always try the Sovereign afterwards. Oh, FWIW, the Sovereign does have a truss rod.
