But I will not set up a pedal steel directly on soft or wet grass, gravel, sand like at a beach, or a stupidly irregular surface.

FWIW, without photos of the front of the amp I'm not 100% sure, but that serial number, serial number plate, and the old-style tolex vinyl indicates that it's more likely a '75 Session 400, which IMO ...
