I just finished watching the JayDee Maness video. It is nearly 4 hours long. Excellent material and lots of licks and valuable insight into his playing style. Highly recommend.

Slowly but surely I've stopped thinking in E9 or C6th. Starting to think in D13.

That is true, but P5 also sharps the minor third D of the minor chord that would be rooted on the low B string.

But you have the D on string 9. Bottom four strings would be B2T: 1 5 1 b3 : B F# B ...

I think a 13th string low B on the bottom would be nice though

P5 puts a low B on strings 12 and 10 already. So an extra string really isn't necessary.

I figure most hadn't seen either the Sierra thread or the instagram account which is why I started this thread.

I don't see any advantage to extending it to 13 or 14 strings and I see a lot of disadvantages. Right now, the D13 tuning is setup with the exact same intervals as E9 with the added root on the bottom ...

My advice: get a dobro. Start there. 6 string. GBDGBD. Nice thing about the dobro is

1. You can play all the music you listed on a dobro.
2. You don't have to invest in amps and speakers or peda ...
