Coors Ceramics used to make hammer heads out of zirconia so it's pretty tough stuff!
Sometimes they will chip if dropped on concrete though. |

I come from a dobro background so I like to have the 5th note on top. When I do this with 6 strings in a 6th tuning, I lose the root on the bottom -- so I like to have at least 7 strings.

Tighter string spacing is an issue for me, since I started on a 6 string dobro but I am starting to get used to the 8 string.
Shouldn't be a problem for you, coming from 8 and 10 string guitars. |

On the used market, a Gold Tone Beard or Wechter Scheerhorn can usually be had for around $500. I have had both and thought they were good reso's for the money. | |
