Maybe one of the screws on the bottom of the pickup ?? Not much on the pickup that could rattle..Did you have the pickup out ??

If I were to get a different frypan, it would be a long scale 6 string. Short scale doesn't quite get the sound of a long scale......at least to my ears !

My 7 string has a serial number, but not very legible. Also has the "Pat Pending" stamped in it, which I believe is like 1936(??)

My ear tells me that a long scale early Rick frypan has a better tone, or that "Rick" sound, than the short scale.
Not sure how a Clinesmith long scale frypan would compare to a 30s Rick ...

The serial number is usually prefixed with a "C" before the number. Haven't seen or worked on one with a "6"

The neck appears to be a 30s piece, but the body & pickup are post-war parts.... Maybe assembled from parts etc...

That fret board is the same as the ones used by the late Elva West, on the guitars he built...Tradewind brand. I have one here, a D-8. Not sure where the fret boards originated..

I've been using just a slight touch of reverb, for a long time. Some can't hear it, but I can ! Very Happy
