I am very happy with my Electro Hawaiian. Gigged for over four years with it, very roadworthy. Custom Vintage Vibe (Pete Biltoft) humbuckers I have wired to be able to split into single coils.

It does seem like you have uneven string height, as you suggest.

This is remedied by having an experienced luthier properly build a new nut with particular attention to even string height.
