I play the six string with fingers only. I have never played with picks as I mostly play fingerstyle. I started years ago in a band playing bass with fingers and can't get used to picks.

I have had good luck with Formula 409. It cleans up oily parts nicely, and I also use it to clean the black buffing residue from aluminum parts. It doesn't seem to cause corrosion, or dis-coloration, ...

My Shobud has some scratches near the nut. The black fretboard and maple underneath make the scratches very visible. There are no marks anywhere else.
